Sometimes a wedding means goodbye. Jamie got married!! Our sweet little girl. I remember the pink rosy cheeks of a two year old, the precious curly
hair, and a smile that would light up the sun.
I remember so clearly the days that Jamie would hang out with us playing
"wedding office". The out-of-date wedding invitation albums, along with other wedding goodies, would make
their way to the Kids Corner for the kids to play with. As Jamie grew up, she would collate, copy, sort, print,
label, and on and on. What a big help she was!
Then....there we were.....sitting in this beautiful reception hall watching
the wedding video of Jamie and her new husband, Ryan. That's when it hit me..... Jamie is married! This was no
longer "wedding office". This was real, and Jamie is moving to Florida to start her life with her
wonderful husband. There will be an empty space in our hearts when we sit down to our special dinners.
I guess this is the part where I admit that Jamie isn't my daughter.
She was the little neighbor girl. It was my pleasure to watch all of her special life moments alongside
her Mom and Dad. They truly let us into their lives where my family became a part of their family.
I know that this is the natural order of life, but it still tugs at the
heart. How in the world will I handle my own daughter getting married? Perhaps this is God's way of giving me
a dress rehearsal!!
Jamie-We love you! Call us often, and think of us more often!

The Ultimate Guest Book My parents recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. We tried to do
many things that honored tradition, yet made our celebration unique to my parents.
My Mom and I were talking about the guest book during our anniversary
party planning days. We commented that while the guest book gives you pleasure in seeing what friends and family joined
you to celebrate your special occasion, the book is put away after the event. We wondered, how can we have
a guest book that you can continue to enjoy day after day, year after year?
We got the perfect idea!! We paid a visit to our local ceramics
store and purchased greenware for a large platter, and a large spaghetti bowl. We painted designs on the bowl to coordinate
with the anniversary party theme and my parents kitchen decor. The platter and bowl were then placed
at the guest book table and this is what all the guests signed!
After my parents amazing 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration
was over, the platter and spaghetti bowl were fired. Mom and Dad now have a beautiful memory from their very
special day that they can enjoy again and again! I can't wait for the next family dinner where we can fill the spaghetti
bowl to the brim...eat...laugh...enjoy each other...and share memories of that very special day and the wonderful family
and friends who helped us celebrate.
